This summer at The Pavilion, more than 100 gifted musicians from around the world are showcased in a free concert titled Legendary Masterpieces. In conjunction with the Immanuel and Helen Olshan Texas Music Festival, an intensive four-week study program at the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music, the Texas Music Festival Orchestra takes the stage June 14. Under the direction of Horst Förster, these young artists perform Richard Strauss’s “Don Juan,” Op. 20 and Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5. The finalists and winner of the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Young Artist Competition will be announced. Join us in supporting and celebrating these talented young artists. Pre-concert activities in the North Plaza begin at 7 p.m.
The Pavilion is welcoming the Boys Scouts of America at Texas Music Festival where they will be completing their Music Merit Badge. Participants can start by visiting the Boy Scouts Resource booth in the North Plaza to obtain the Music Merit Badge workbook and concert program. Next they can visit the Partners Instrument Petting Zoo and Arts & Crafts booth. Finally, they can visit The Woodlands School of Rock on the Side Stage and the Texas Music Festival Orchestra on the main stage to listen to two different stylistic live performances. For more information email Leslie Williams.
